Peter William Phipps was born in Clapham, South London on 5th August 1951.

He is best known as the driving beatmaster and heart-throb teen-idol behind The Glitter Band, of which he has been a member since its inception in 1972. The Glitter Band (formerly The Glittermen), backed Gary Glitter for a short time before gaining notoriety and chart success in its own right.

Using his vast experience gained from both The Glitter Band, and also from working with other high profile artists, Pete is able to play in a wide range of styles and genres, and always has the enthusiasm to try something unusual and new.  Although known for his drumming, he is an accomplished musician on keyboards as well as bass and rhythm guitars.

Divorced and the Father of 3 girls, living in Sussex, S.E. England, he not only continues to perform regularly with various bands, but also teaches drums privately, and in mainstream education. He instructs in tai chi, is a keen tennis player, and mean chess adversary.
